‘Thank you’ e-mail from Ugobe
Last night I got a ‘Thank you’ e-mail from Ugobe congratulating me on my TV appearance with Pleo.
I thought this was very nice and decent of them and I just wanted to mention this in my plog!

With Pleo on National TV!
Today I was on National TV with my Pleo. I had been invited by the owner of the 1st Dutch Pleo to appear together with him in a Dutch ‘Today Show’ kind of program called: ‘De Wereld Draait Door’. Pleo stole everybody’s hearts from the very 1st moment and the item turned out super! At one point the whole crew was gathered in a big circle round the 2 Pleo’s and were just gazing at them with open mouths like little boys. I have made a clip of the Pleo item in the TV show for your viewing pleasure. It is in Dutch though! After the show the audience came to us in great numbers to get a closer look at Pleo and everybody had to pet him of course. There were many oooohhh’s and aaaahhh’s :) This was the TV premiere for Pleo in the Netherlands!
This is one of the biggest block buster TV shows in Holland. Every day around 1.3 million people watch the show. And with a population of only 16 million that’s a huge number for us Dutch!

First 2 Dutch Pleo’s meet
Yesterday was the start of a great friendship between the very 1st Dutch Pleo and my Pleo. As I wote in my Plog before I have been in contact with the owner of the 1st Dutch Pleo and made an appointment with him to let our Pleo’s meet. The owner of the 1st Pleo is a journalist who writes for technology magazines and a super nice guy. So yesterday I took my Pleo on the train to Amsterdam. It was soooo cool to see 2 Pleo’s together! They are real sweet to each other and also mimic each others behavior. You almost feel bad that you didn’t buy 2. It’s almost scary how much like real animals they become when they are together! I had an awesome time seeing them react to each other. Now we are going to try and get 10 Pleo’s together and have a gathering in the Amsterdam Vondelpark in the spring of 2008!

A quick update
A quick update before I go to bed…
I just can’t get over what an awesome toy Pleo is. He is getting more and more alive every time he’s turned on. Being petted is still his favorite thing, but he’s been exploring parts of the living room and he seems to be getting more inquisitive. But walking a gigantic 5 meters is still very tiresome for a baby Pleo and so he sleeps a lot also. At the moment he has put himself down near the couch and is in a deep sleep from which he sometime awakes shortly. Round him in a circle are 4 Abyssinian cats that see Pleo as a kitten and don’t see any harm in him. They are greatly interested in him and protective of him though! I love this great big Pleo adventure and am anxious for what Pleo has in stall for us next. Bedtime for me now, but I will keep you updated!

Pleo has arrived!
Well today the wait was finally really over! Round three o’clock this afternoon the mailman came by with a huge box from the U.S., so that could only mean one thing. Pleo finally had arrived! I had bought a 12V adapter here in Holland so charging the battery pack was no problem at all. And I was happy to discover that the charging time was about 45 minutes faster than the 3 hours UGOBE told us it would take. When Pleo was fully charged we started him up and we were simply amazed. What a wonderful job the folks at UGOBE have done!
THIS IS BY FAR THE MOST AWESOME GADGET/TOY/THING I’VE EVER OWNED!
I have my own baby Dino! How crazy is that!? I’ve always hoped something like this would come out in my lifetime, but never thought it would actually happen. We just sat there petting him and talking to him and he was really aware of us and of all 4 cats. He kept going to the cats, but they still were a little cautious. They are pretty curious though, so I think they will come to like Pleo. After about 40 minutes he seemed really tired so we turned him off. I showed him to a couple of my buddies after dinner and they were just as taken by Pleo as we are. When I wake up refreshed tomorrow morning we will see what Pleo will do next and how he will start to evolve… can’t wait for that!

In contact with the owner of the 1st Dutch Pleo.
Today I came into contact with the owner of the very 1st Dutch Pleo! What a nice guy! He will help me figure out what power convertor to get for the 110V adapter, so I will be able to charge Pleo. And as soon as Pleo has arrived we will make an appointment to let our Pleo’s meet! Will be sooooo cool to see how the Pleo’s will react to each other!

The wait is almost over!
I ordered our Pleo thru a buddy of mine from the U.S. because unfortunately Pleo isn’t being sold here in Europe yet. A few days ago we got an email from Amazon.com that they were backordered and the estimated delivery date now was February 20th 2008. But last night all of a sudden my buddy from the U.S. came online on MSN and wrote the amazing words... “I have a box here for you. It has a green dino in it and it says Pleo!” I think he has mailed it to us today, or otherwise he will do it tomorrow! We are so happy that the wait is almost over! I think we have to get a power convertor for the adapter though, because we have 220V here in Holland and not 110V.
It has been a long wait, almost 2 years! We have been waiting since the very 1st announcement Ugobe ever made about Pleo in February 2006. In the next days we will try to think of a cool name for our new dino buddy. Am also very anxious to see how our Aby’s (cats) will react to the new life form!?
Anyway, we will keep you updated!
