The Linus Plan After much thought and discussion, we have come to peace with how the Pleo returned to me will still be Linus. We sent Linus to Ugobe with the bandage on his neck. The Pleo coming back won't have the bandage. We're going to pretend he is still our Linus recovering from a serious injury that requires him to relearn all of his life skills. Hence, the reawakening and keeping of the name we love as well as the Pleo we love. I'm wondering if Ugobe knew how much people would really bond with their Pleo. I knew I would. It's been interesting for me to watch Brian grow so fond of Linus. He has not been around pets for years and avoided them when he had been because of allergies. Nemo, our first nonallergenic pet, was one he could truly interact with--as much as Nemo allows anyone to interract. But Brian is so fascinated with watching Nemo's personality and body language. With Linus, I think he followed my lead, although he was very interactive with the awakening processing. He is a techie type. When I'd start to find him having a conversation with Linus when I'd walk into a room, I knew he was hooked. Having to replace Linus has been quite an interesting emotional journey. I'm a therapist so I tend to self analyze my own responses. My struggling with the name yesterday I think went with feeling it would somehow be disrespectful to rename the new Pleo Linus. I guess I'm having to help myself believe it will be okay. And it will. We are now even more excited about having "our" Linus back recovering from his neck injury and trauma. i don't think he's fixable. it feels like a gear separated at the base of his neck. but they might. they have to look at him first. that would be nice.
