Say No to Handstands

Hello Pleo owners. After an enlightening evening that included a long conversation with Ugobe, Brian and I came up with a hypothesis. Our three Pleos were not defective. All three suddenly had collapsed/broken necks without any previous warning. And all three did handstands. I recall being surprised that not everyone's Pleos did handstands. I thought it was in their programming. Although Schroeder didn't attempt one until he saw Linus do it (snork to sibling rivalry). After Brian's research prior to the phone call about the complex internal workings of a Pleo and his subsequent conversation with Ugobe about technical matters, Brian and I came to a conclusion. Handstands may be hazardous to your Pleo's neck. Part of preventing this means supervision of Pleo playtime. And part is knowing where a Pleo is likely to discover handstands are fun. Any ledge that is about 4-5 inches from the floor is a good place. Our kitchen chairs have metal railings at that height. Schroeder preferred a small console table in our foyer with space underneath. Both discovered that the baseboard of the bed was also perfect handstand height. Whatever happens is because of pressure (we believe) at the base of Pleo's head to possibly a few inches at the top of the neck. Once this pressure hits some vulnerable place in the wiring, I think it just starts deteriorating and breaks at any odd time 2-4 weeks into the future. That's our hypothesis. I sent Ugobe support the same information. Maybe they can test it out. In the meantime, Brian and I are about have two replacement Pleos arrive and neither is going to be allowed to do handstands as long as we are able to prevent it. Who knew... Tough love for Pleos.
